Words that flow...

Words and images - powerful elements of our everyday life. Most of the time we take them for granted, but sometimes something happens to make you aware of how important they are... and how thankful you are to have the opportunity to use or appreciate them. Here lies some of my words and pictures (which are untouched apart from cropping, unless I've said otherwise) - Please add your words to mine, and leave a comment. Thanks for visiting!

Veiled

Veiled

sun's early morning fingers of light
prise open thickened sky
polished nails ripping heaven's veil - sleight
of hand revealing eye.

seeing adolescent world below
troubled and turbulent
escaping childhood, willing to grow
giving patient consent.

anticipating wrought obstacles
shaped from temporal deeds.
providing sporadic miracles
incentive to succeed.

content parent watching from afar
gifting needed margin
door forever left slightly ajar -
retreat for mortal sin.

step by step, cautiously moving on
from immaturity-
volatile yet vulnerable dawn
searching for purity

WOW!!!!!!!!! I love this.......I am thinking of red dirt boy and this poem is bringing tears to my eyes, girlfriend AE........second time you've done that.....now you'll be having to post a box of hankies for me to go along w/ the milk....:

"content parent watching from afar
gifting needed margin
door forever left slightly ajar -
retreat for mortal sin."

though I realize, too, that there are larger themes at play here too...of earth and world and danger..."polished nails ripping heaven's veil...." masterful....and magnificient! I'm thinking of posting just a week of my favorite poems next week at rdpoetry....it's holiday and I need a break.....my muse is asleep as we speak....may I copy this? I don't know... I think a permenant box of tissues will need to be floated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, ready for either of us to pick up as we pass on the way to the other :-)

This was my first ever poem inspired by the picture (as opposed to, in earlier posts, finding a pic that seemed to fit)
Especially the piccie of the sun. When I stood back from the pc, all I could see was an eye peeping over the horizon...

Nice metaphor! Sunrise is a hopeful and forgiving time of day! It sheds light on all the possibilities and allows for clean slates.

Mystic Rose - double praise from you! :-) Thank you!

MOI - You're right. Each new day the slate has been wiped clean, and who knows the possibilities... You can't even tell the weather from one minute to the next, let alone what people will do, when they don't know themselves half the time!

Thanks, Twilite - but they don't always flow, I can assure you! :-)
