Apologies... computer off-line.... :-(

.

Many apologies everyone who's commented and if you've emailed me, I haven't had access to my computer at home for the last couple of days - something went wrong with the Anti-virus, and froze it up, then I've spent the last two days trying to re-load the files again from the internet, but didn't finish until late last night!! :-(

It wouldn't be so bad, but I'd intended to use my son's laptop when he returned from his dad's. We'd been having trouble with it before he left, but he'd let me know that the internet connection was now working. Unfortunately, it was only working with his wireless connnection at his dad's. When he came home, we plugged it in, and.... zilch! :-(

Don't you just hate it when the computer goes wrong? I've been through all the trouble-shooting I can find, and still I can't work out the problem. The help files say to 'do this' and 'do that', which I do only to be then told 'do something else'. Boy, am I fed up with it! And, to make matters worse, he uses the internet a lot for his studies, and since his A' levels are coming up, I'm going to have to give him precedence in the evenings on this pc (Nooooooo.....oh, woe is me!!!! )

So, although I'll get on the computer whenever humanly possible, it's going to be a fight for every minute I can get... should be fun [not!!]. The younger two want time on too, and seeing as they have to earn time on the computer (4 minutes for every 1 minute they help me round the house... so, to have their hour, they have to give me a quarter hour clearing up... ) I'm probably going to have to get up at 2am to get on!!! :-S

A quick word about these photos... as you can see, my new evening haunt is the local reservoir. I've been enjoying some peaceful moments, watching the sun going down... munching bombay mix or drinking a can.... Mmmmm, bliss!

I think the fishermen might be getting a bit wary of me though... probably wondering what private detective agency I'm from :-D

And now...

My latest passion has been using my close-up facility on the camera, which amazingly I've only just discovered!!! When I used it before, it seemed to put everything out of focus, but by accident I discovered that (if I hold it still enough) I could do some really great shots. Well, the second of these two photos is my 'Eureka' moment. This is my first shot using the magnifying lens... yay! (apologies for any arachnaphobics out there :-D )

Annelisa, you amaze me with your photos. My fav is the wet ripples in the sand. I was going to ask if that was for sale, for my holiday home (I have a frame with a rubbish picture in it). But my son said he wants do do one, I'll give him 4 weeks!!!

AWwww, thanks, Akelamalu - I was tearing my hair out trying to get the computer sorted so I could get back on... I'm glad I've got one computer sorted, at least. Even better when I've worked out what the heck is wrong with my son's... he relies on it such a lot, for school work and socialising (making arragements to co-ordinate meeting with friends in real life... he's pretty good at finding slots where they can all get together, but needs the messenger to do it! )

I've done a few Incey Wincey shots now... some have come out really good... I'll put some of the better ones on later :-) The other thing I've been practicing on is plant-life... it stays still long enough for me to focus :-)

So, not a spider - hater, Topchamp? :-D Yes, weird. I liked the kinda surreal effect of not being able to see the web... might do more of these... it's a whole new ballgame! :-)

Another 'AWwww', thanks Queenie - I can put any picture you want into the Deviant Art Gallery/ shop... and as long as it passes 'quality-control', apparently you can buy all sorts of paraphenalia, including various sized prints :-) At the moment, that particular one isn't up, because I put a similar one (hope that link works, as the one I used before didn't) up, and didn't want to fill a whole page of pictures that differed only slightly. But now there's been lots of others in between, I can put it on there if you like... Think you should have your son's one, though - a lot more personal to the place :-)

Thanks, Katie... I'm discovering a new peace through them myself :-)

Sp... SP... SPIIIIDER!!!! Aaaaaah!
I´m such an arachnophobic! I tried to help myself (à la: face your fears) and adopted a tarantula - Sir Humphrey - some years ago. Result: I didn´t fear Sir Humphrey... but still all the others =)

I hate it, too, when my notebook doesn´t work. I had to (re-)install everything yesterday. It gave up Saturday night. *sigh*

Good luck, Annelisa.

P.S.: Stunning pictures... except the SP... uhm, well, no: Those are beautiful as well... when I don´t focus on the cute little animal!

I've got 15 minutes left of my work break, so just time for checking up on my old pals :-)

Twilite - yes, you really must see if you can take, and post, some tropical sunsets!!! I look forward to them.

Have a good day yourself, sweetie!

Topchamp - tell Paul I've taken some pics of the local fauna up the forest for him, so he can see the mix! :-)

Queenie - better tell your son to get a move on then... :-) Oh, and you can also tell him from me that he's got good taste! :-D lol

You don't like spiders, Sanni, yet you have a tarantula as a pet??? It's mad you are! :-) :-) Just imagine the sp...in the sunset is Humphrey on holiday!! :-D

The computer problems are, unfortunately, ongoing :-( I really have to sort out my son's, as he's hogging the main pc all the time now....

Hiya Akelamalu... Course I don't mind being tagged, but I'll have to come over later and see as my breaks over, and I'm a tag behind already :-) Will check it out!!

Thankyou Dan - I have avoided the local reservoir for long enough (tell you why another time...) and I'm really glad to be going back there again. It's a lovely place - I still remember it as fields when I was a kid! :-) - and soooooo relaxing!

I don't think it was the software itself (Norton Antivirus), which I've never had a problem with before. I think it's the fact that I bought a cd of it several years ago, and just keep 'topping it up' Each time I add the update, it has some teething problems. This time, however, I think it just gave up the ghost... Next year I'll buy the actual cd again - especially after the number of times I've had to re-install the blasted thing! :-S

Queenie - Well done! If you're trying, then you're on the right track already :-D

I'm was half way through doing a post on how to do the globe thing for my 'How to Link & Other Stuff' when the computer collapsed on me... I will try and finish it real soon, then you can check the step-by-step thing :-)

Okay, now you're doing mixed media! Sun shots + spiders and such! Very cool. I need to take my camera out more like you do, except I have to wear it while I pole! There were neat black clouds in the sunset at 8:00 p.m. the other night and I thought of you!!
Some day soon I'll get some good ones and post'em, dedicated to you!

Thank you, Steve - sorry I didn't leave a note... it was hard to get on to do that. I was going to do it at work, but found my break was taken (as per usual) by, well, more work :-)

I've been trying to work out what line you mean in the peace globe? I've looked and looked, and am puzzled... :-S

Ha ha, Quasar!! I guess it could be... :-D

Absolutely right, Lettuce - totally agree that it can give you a chance to play with the pictures once you've taken them. I have a lot of fun doing that, but rarely put those here, as I also like the 'as is' pictures.

Welcome to Words that Flow... and thanks for commenting :-)

I'm not out of the woods yet, Krystyna... I have one computer working, but it is still mostly being hijacked by my studying son... I still have to find what's wrong with his connection to get this pc back!! :-(

Thanks for coming over and enjoying the pictures. I hope they bring you at least some of the pleasure they've given me taking them :-)

Oh, and you visited the Deviant Art gallery? Thank you! Thank you for taking the time!

I'm off, and on, and off again, Akelamalu!! Whenever I can get on, I will. The next thing I want to do is a post on how to make and put up the peaceglobes... I have an hour just now, so maybe my project of the day :-)

Thanks also for looking at the Deviant Art... I like seeing the picturest together like that, don't you? :-)

Hope you're not overdoing your knee, but also hoping you're enjoying casting off your crutches!!

Good morning, MOI (or should I say good afternoon?)... It was totally accidental, focusing on the spider in the first place, but once I did, I realised it was good to have a close-up subject, with the sunset as backdrop, and not always the only image... more experiments on this to follow... :-)

Depending on how cold it is, and how much you're wearing, I've found it's quite good to chuck a coat on over the camera slung on my shoulder... it doesn't bump around so much, and is protected from the elements more. Only thing is, if you do up your coat, then it's not so easy to reach in and grab the camera quickly. For many shots though, there's enough time...

Shame you didn't get that sunset the other night... would have been good to see what it was like with you! [ :-) I often think of different people when I'm out taking pictures... I think 'so-and-so might like this' or 'maybe that's something thingymebob might like'. It's nice that you think of me when you see a neat sunset... I'm honoured to be in your thoughts at this time :-) ]

Please do try and capture some scenes... I've liked the ones you've posted before - it's so different than it is here!

Oh boo! I hate technical problems with computers. I don't know how I will survive without turning it on for even a day! =O =P

Yes, the help files weren't helpful at all! I had to go online and ask friends or go to forums and ask for help! >.<

I like the fisherman picture! Reminds me of the fisherman in stilts at ... err ... India/Bangladesh? =S

I love macro photos! =D I have a close up picture of water droplets on leaves! It looks really enchanting! Horray for discovering it! =D Love the spider picture (even though I dare not touch one, and I go "Eek!" whenever I see one near me, crawling towards me =S ).
