Words that flow...

Words and images - powerful elements of our everyday life. Most of the time we take them for granted, but sometimes something happens to make you aware of how important they are... and how thankful you are to have the opportunity to use or appreciate them. Here lies some of my words and pictures (which are untouched apart from cropping, unless I've said otherwise) - Please add your words to mine, and leave a comment. Thanks for visiting!

27 February 2007

March NaNoWriMo - here goes nothing!

Thanks for all your words of support re my month haitus... I won't be able to stay away (you know I won't! :-D ) , but this will be the last 'proper' post for a while. I may put some photos up from time to time, and I might even write something, but I'm going to concentrate on writing this novel... the ideas are brewing, and I'm raring to go!! I don't want to get torn between two loves... :-)

That's not to say I won't be round and about in the blogosphere... cos you possibly won't be able to get rid of me camping out in your blogs - in my moment of being a literary desert, when the words stop flowing, when the ideas hit the red traffic light... then I'll probably visit and see how folks are doing. I'll also answer if anyone leaves a message here... I'm having a definate pang about hiding myself away... but I think that's best for now, else I'll spend my whole month blogging instead of creating the most unreadable novel in the history of mankind!

So, adios, my friends - Au revoir and Auf wiedersehn! Stop by and see how I'm doing with word count on the tally in the heading box, and leave your cackling laughter at their patheticness :-) [or words of encouragement - go, girl, go! ]

So, until the end of the March... take care.

(((hugs)))

Please go and give Farris support too!

ps - if you want to see close-ups of photos in sidebar, see previous post!

Good luck, Annelisa. We will bravely soldier on without your nourishing posts.

Hope NaNoWriMo is an exhilarating experience for you. I think of it as the literary equivalent of tromping down on the accelerator when you find a stretch of open highway and blowing the carbon out of your carburetor.

Here's hoping you love speed and that you produce more than exhaust smoke! Can't wait to hear all about it.

At February 28, 2007 3:04 pm, Blogger Annelisa said...

Ha ha! Like the simile, David!! I love speed (shhhh...don't tell!) and the thought of the next month as an open highway really appeals!

Being as there's no smoke without fire, I reckon the exhaust is going to be flaming out (well, I hope so, anyway :-) )

I'm a bit worried about visiting your wonderful Very Short Novels, in case I subconsciously nick any of your ideas... come to think of it, your ideas are too brilliant for me to emulate, so I will be visiting! :-) C U soon

Hi Annalisa--

Launch Day is here! Here's hoping the day finds you inspired, the muse finds you receptive, and the keyboard finds you positively assaultive! ;-)

You can do this! Looking forward to hearing about progress! ft

At March 01, 2007 9:50 pm, Blogger Annelisa said...

Ehm, by 'smashing success' do you mean you could use it to throw through a jeweller's window, in lieu of a brick, because it's so darned heavy, Brian? :-D

Are you writing a novel? I didn't know that. Are you publishing it in a blog, or doing it quietly behind the scenes?

Hi Queenie - yeah, as you say... there's some things a gal just has to do... and this sure is one of mine!
Thanks for being here!

Katie - you can't miss me too much, if you can't get rid of me! :-D I can't leave that easily - it would be too much of a rench to leave lovely people such as yourself behind. I'll be around. And I hope you'll visit sometimes... (((hugs back!!!)))

Good for you, Kitty - ride the waves, honey... you can do it! If you want a change of Kitty-treats, let me know, and I'll have a look in my larder to see what else I can find :-)

Well, hello Farris!!! I meant to come round to yours this morning,at work break, but apart from not actually getting a break (because only 2 of the 4 technicians were in), blogger has been blocked as a 'pornography'producer on the school system... so no more blogging in break-times for me :-(

I've had my first keyboard assault, and haven't done too badly, with a first turnout of 3300 words! Pretty pleased with that as a start.... :-D *grin*

Whoo-hoo! Awesome first-day total, Annalisa! Here's to momentum! ft

At March 02, 2007 9:17 am, Blogger Annelisa said...

Cheers, Farris!! I think I'm going to need to do big blocks, because there's so much of the time I'm interrupted every few minutes, and on Monday is my younger son's birthday, so we'll probably do something with his friends Sunday, then there'll be the actual celebrations Monday...

But at least I know I can do a fair-sized chunk all in one go! :-)

I see you've done the target amount for the first day - Well done you! If you keep that up, you'll be laughing (probably manically :-) ) by the end of the month!

At March 02, 2007 9:38 am, Blogger Annelisa said...

Mdz and Angeldust - you managed to pry the door open to my blogging Novel somehow, but I've closed it again until the end of the month... so as not to let the editing draughts in.. :-)

Thank you both for your words of encouragement - your confidence in me needs to come down a level or two though - I'm aiming to write a really bad novel - just so's I can say 'I've done it'! So, don't be expecting anything amazing/ fantastic/ superfluous ... it's going to be a heap of...

But it's really nice you think I could do it well :-D

At March 02, 2007 10:30 am, Blogger ann said...

sorry I haven't been around much and I'm off again on Sunday, but I really wish you well with the novel... go go girl, you can do it. I always hoped there was one in me, but I know there isn't; I have a short concentration span that means short poems are about my limit and I am the most undisciplined person I know, so I shall bask in your glory instead.

Please may I have a signed copy.

lotsa luv and lotsa luck ann xxxx

At March 02, 2007 12:13 pm, Blogger Annelisa said...

Hiya Ann - yeah, I missed you, but I know you've got other things on - and they're more important. It's just nice to see you here, now! :-)

The good thing about the NaNoWriMo is that you have to keep 'in there' for that time... and I believe even my intermittent writing patterns will be reigned in by the discipline required for only (- ha!) one month...

:-D If I ever get my name in book-print I'll put a copy aside for you!

Thanks for the luck - I think I'm going to need it later... I've only done my plot until about 2/3 the way through the story... and I've got a horrible feeling that's where I'm going to dive - endings have always been my weak point!! :-S

I actually was writing a novel and posting it on my blog, but after the others, I deleted it. I had written about 30,000 words, but haven't done much since Nov. I am still thinking what to do.

Rose wants to get started on her book soon, so I'll have to figure that out as well.

Have a great weekend.

Oh, excellent, Brian - you've managed to do 30000 words already? I'm envious. I feel I'm only just beginning a long journey. I've got energy, but there's an awful long way to go, and possibly a lot of pitfalls on the way.

It would be great if you wrote another book - maybe you could do the official November NaNoWriMo... get it all done in a month. Or maybe Rose could!! :-)

Have a great weekend yourself, Brian!

Have I been here before? I found your blog via Dan's so it's possible. That house in shadow looks familiar. Then again it looks familiar because it looks like the kind of house I dream of as in literal nighttime dreaming and the kind of house (without being ridiculously multimillionaire daydream extravagant) I'd like to live in would be a double-fronted vicarage or manorhouse type building with atticks and cellars and lovely bay windows. I do love your photos ... You must come see my blog by the way! it's at gledwood2.blogspot. It's very different from yours -- it's a secret diary blog that I update daily (OK at NEARLY daily) even if it kills me. You're welcome to drop by. All the best 2u from

Gledwood - yep, you've been here before... and I came back to yours, and I think mentioned my daughter's chinese hamsters (or was it russian?) which escaped, we couldn't find, and turned up in my daughter's bed in the morning. :-)

Thanks Akelamalu - tonight was a hard, hard slog! I really thought I wasn't going to manage more than the couple of hundred words I'd written earlier when I came back from work, and was about to throw in the towel for the day, and turn off the pc, when it suddenly gushed... I got my word count! :-D

Mystic! Good to see ya, girl! I can just see you doing one of your dramatic dances...and suddenly you're holding pom-poms and transformed into a cheerleader!

I'm here, Quasar- honest! I'm just all inside me, instead of on the page! Well, I'm on lots of pages... but they're other pages... on another unseen blog :-) One day, maybe they will be revealed... if they improve a whole lot more than they are already! And... if I get a better storyline...and characters... and stop writing such drivel!! :-D

Oh, hang on a minute - that's what I'm supposed to be doing - it's a NaNoWriMo - it's compulsory to be rubbish! So, I'm ok then! I'll visit soon - but not tonight. I was walking the dogs at six this morning, and it's a long day!

Night night!

Quasar's poems are always great - cos they're straight off the cuff, and from the heart!!

Farris, me ol' writin' buddy! Yep, that was the heat rising from the computer keys... Just had to get a new keyboard that wasn't welded to the table!

Morning Dave - thanks for stopping by, and for your words of wisdom.

Unfortunately, at the moment, I'm like a person possessed - I can't help myself - all I want to do is write!! It's like I've been surpressing it all my life, and it's coming out now (in the form of a crappy story, admittedly, but it's pouring out anyhow! :-) )

I thought I would've had a couple of zero days by now, but the writer in me that's always being shoved down, won't be shoved down just now. I'm determined to put an ending to a novel, for once in my life!! But there's a lot to be said before the end, unfortunately, so that has to be writ first! :-D

Morning, Kitty - Fair enough, put on the wetsuit... if you need one, you need one! Anything that helps.

But just make sure you keep getting back on that board, and keep riding them there waves, Kitty! Apparently it gets easier the more you do it...You've already got the hang of it, now you just need to learn a few moves to stay on when you would have fallen off before. You can do it!

Would you like another cuppa before you get back out in those rough waters again? Come back when you need warming up again...:-)

Morning Akelamalu - Oh, you would have loved this morning's sunrise! (pictures later) - I woke up suddenly, and just knew I had to get up and get out as quickly as I could... and was out in the forest by 6am, just in time to catch a beauty of a sunrise through the trees. I'm afraid the dogs didn't get a lot of walking, as I was pretty much transfixed in various beauty spots all the way round!

And a good morning to you too Krystyna... only seems a lot of traffic because I'm stuck on one post! I daren't do another, in case it opens the door for me, and I can't resist getting into it again... and I'm determined to keep at this novel-lark...it's fun, exciting and novel (ha ha!). You know what it is, Farris? I can't stop the characters yak yak yakking, and it all goes down... haven't actually got very far with the story, because all they want to do is talk...all talk, no action!!

I think I'll give them a kick up the butt today, and see if I can get some movement in! :-)

Morning Katie! Yes, we've had some lovely sunrises and sunsets lately (can we blame global warming for that too?) and that seems to be the time, strangely :-), that I'm out and about. Still, most of the pictures are taken when I'm actually doing something else, like taking and fetching the kids somewhere, walking the dogs, or even walking round work!

Thanks for the cheer (I literally heard it all the way over here! :-D )

Thank you for your encouraging words. They mean a lot to me -- especially new in this blog world.

I wish you success and inspiration to writing your novel. Let us know when this shall be published. Looking forward to reading your book.

In the meantime, I shall miss reading your blog and enjoying your lovely photos. I like the lyrics and music of the song. Thank you.

Akelamalu - I so appreciate your support - I should've sent you a couple of pom-poms (or whatever they call those things) and a mini-skirt, so you could do the full cheerleader dance! :-D

Thanks!

Twilight - What lovely things you say! Can you possibly miss my ramblings? :-D But, you know, I couldn't stay away completely, so I just have to post something - luckily there's thousands of megabytes of photos on my computer, so I'll not run short of them, even if my words are in short supply!

Thanks for visiting. I'm sure Mother of Invention will be very happy to hear you like her song - I think it's gorgeous as well!

Apologies to everyone for not answering sooner - I'm experiencing major overload - you know, with steam coming out my ears, my eyes spinning on stalks and body going into hyperload!

Seriously, I don't think I've felt this exhausted since before they started treating me for my hypothyroidism :-(

FK!!! - So lovely to see you again! I thought you'd disappeared from the face of the blogosphere!

Thanks for your words of encouragement - means a lot from an old pro like yourself! Thanks for the hugs - that's what's keeping me going right now!

Akelamalu - nice high kick you're doing, with your gammy leg! Thanks for your ongoing cheerleading - it means a lot to me!

Queenie- Am I seeing double? Yes, I loved that pic... I've got a whole set of them, from different angles - boy was it difficult picking just one!

Sanni, sweetie, I hope you're feeling a bit better, and the healthy vibes are helping! :-)

You'll never know how difficult it is discarding all the rest of photos being taken, and putting only one up!

(and thanks - I'll pass on your birthday message to my new teenager! :-))

...and Akelamalu, back again... oh dear, was it that long since I've checked the mailbox? Sorry, sweetie. But, please know that I really, really appreciate your visits! Thank you!

Guiliano - Are you back from wherever you went? I see you haven't been posting recently, I hope everything's ok?!

Yeah, the school trip was a killer, Akelamalu, but I'm still here, and still just about typing...and my finger on the clicker's still working (again, just about :-) )

Morning Sanni, Yay! Great dancin' girl! Thanks for the rah rah rah! I'm lapping it up and turning the energy to the page...

I Tell ya,guys, I'm really slowing down (I know the word count doesn't look like it, but every word is dragged out and shoved onto the page... they keep jumping off again, as I sweep big stretches of rubbish off (which you're not supposed to be doing in NaNoWriMo - the internal editor's supposed to be off, but I'm having trouble keeping it off :-( )

Still, see my word-count? Yahay! Getting there!

Sleep? Ah... sleeeeepppp... yes, sleep...goood...

(oh, I wish!)

Aw, Dan, ya miss me? I feel so loved! :-)

That's a really lovely thing to say, Dave- it's nice you're stopping by, even though I'm being a blogging socio-under-presence!

And it's even nicer you said hello, so I know you were here... the equivalent to leaving a message on an answerphone when someone's not in?

Although the novel's 33000+ words in, I'm still struggling with the characters actually carrying out the actions I'd planned them to do, so have fallen behind with moving the story towards a conclusion...

I'm going to have to come up with something ingenious to kick them out of their apathy tomorrow... maybe I'll get them all to wear red noses for 'Red Nose Day'!! Yeah, they look brighter and livlier already! :-D

What do you think I'd spend a spare £50 on...? (I'll give you a clue: My head hurts today and I'm very thirsty)

Hope you're doing ok. Weird not seeing pics and bits about what you're up to but it's not for too much longer now. Want to keep rambling but must dash. See you soon x

Hi there Topchamp - great to see you again, even if not officially back (especially as not officially back!) Can I shout at your providers along with you? As you say, it might not help, but I think I'd enjoy it!

If you press ctrl and End together, it'll take you all the way to the bottom without having to scroll :-D

Sounds like your head, though now hurting and dehydrated, knows what's best for it! :-)

Pics still going up - slowly- and there's snippets of what I'm up to in all the comments... like for instance, putting my feet up today, being mother's day 'n all, having had breakfast in bed (yay!!!)... soon on to visit my mum in the home, and give her a hug...

Hello Akelamalu - I think I've done more housework in the last few days, avoiding writing, than I have in the last year! :-) Yesterday, I went to visit my sister, so word count was pitifully low (but there was still one, so I'll give my self a wee pat on the back for that!) I'll put up the picture I took on top of her Sainsbury's carpark next! :-D

Good Morning, Angeldust - sorry I haven't visited lately... I'm going get my wagon out and come visiting as many friends as I can later today...

Glad you like the photos! :-)

Thanks Katie - that one was taken back at the beginning of the month, I think maybe even from the 1st, when I had all those gorgeous sunrise pictures, so didn't post a lot of the other ones... hopefully, I'll get round to them later!

Hey! I'm glad to see the "0 words" posting. Everyone needs a break now and then!

Happy Mother's Day! You gave me a bit of a scare because I thought I had forgotten to get something nice for my wife in only her second year of motherhood. A quick Google search revealed that the U.S. Mother's Day always falls on the second Sunday of May, not March. Whew! That is just the type of thing my ADD brain tends to forget!

Cheers!

Morning Akelamalu - well, you knew what I meant - pampering, treats, being told 'I love you mum' sort of thing... it's kinda nice at least once a year, isn't it! :-)

Good to see you Queenie - yes... absolutely determined to finish, but my goal's not really the 50000 words (though that was the first goal)- it's to actually write an ending to the novel, otherwise I suspect it will end on the heap, like all the other half-hearted efforts I've done! :-(

But, the story's moving on, so I must be getting there! :-D (Yay!)

Hiya Farris - could probably make the word count in a few days, but the novel wouldn't be finished. I'm going for the end of the novel by the end of the month now... that's more important to me than numbers :-) (though, without the number counting, I definately wouldn't have got this far!! I'll be over to yours later to see how your novel's doing! :-) )

Thanks for stopping by Dave - and thanks for saying that about having a zero count now and then before... that's what enabled me to take the break on Sunday. I've been pushing myself quite hard, knowing it's only going to be a month, but I worry that if I take a break I'll stop. I needed you to say that to take a pause!!

Ha Ha! Just as well our Mother's Day is before yours - gives you a couple of months warning, huh? Don't suppose you'll forget it now! :-D

Yep, the pounds are falling away, and the excercise is reducing those ounces... I'm probably going to exceed my goal and get those biceps pumping to reach the ultimate goal of completing the ideas, rounding off etc... so, whatever it takes... until the end of the month...

Hey Mystic - I hear, from a little birdie, that you might be doing the NaNoWriMo come November? I hope so - you have a great style of writing, especially when telling your stories. I'm sure it would be a treat to read!

The pictures? They're on the post below (or versions of them) and can be used any time by copying the location, and putting the url in the place it says for uploading photos (if your blog has the same type of set-up), so go ahead and use them hon!! (don't forget to let me know when, so I can be sure to come and see! :-) )

Good morning Twilight - it was even worse than not being able to comment on the post - the comment section in the sidebar kept reducing what I wanted to say, continually coming up with the message that I had too many words, so to take some away!! Now, that's one thing I'm not very good at - deleting things I want to say, so I found it a totally frustrating exercise!

Did you recently change Blog Provider? I don't remember having any problems on your site!

Yes, nearly at the 50000, Krysyna, but unfortunately I still have a way to go to finish the book - I'm going to make a hard push to do some more chapters this weekend (I've been aiming at one chapter a day up until now), so it can be finished by next Saturday!

It's not my fingers that's aching, Akelamalu!! Believe it or not, I'm having trouble getting in and out the car, because my backside's siezed-up. I ache down my back, and in my hips, so much I can hardly walk when I stand... As well as my morning walk, I've had to start exercising gently to counteract the effects of sitting on my bum so long every day!! :-D

Thanks for feeding Randolf, Katie - I think he would have starved without your ministrations! :-D My daughter actually sometimes comes on this blog just to feed him - I think she worries that I don't give him enough attention, but I'm actually teaching him some nifty tricks - my favourite is to give him the banana in the very bottom left corner, and watch him slide across the floor!

Have your kitty and wolf got names?

At March 24, 2007 8:44 am, Blogger Annelisa said...

Morning Akelamalu! Believe me, I'm jiggling! When I walk, I stretch the muscles as much as possible (that there are a lot of hills helps that), and when I'm stuck in the car for a couple of hours (like last night taking the kids to their dad's) - I do bottom squeezes... still killing me though - just not used to sitting so much, I guess. Or it could be when I'm writing, I'm so still that my backside freezes - let's just hope the wind doesn't change and it stays like that!! :-D

At March 24, 2007 8:53 am, Blogger Annelisa said...

Hiya Brian - haven't seen you in a while... must come over and see what you've been up to lately! Have a good weekend yourself!

lolofl Queenie!! I thought that was real funny! And have you seen the film(s) of that name? They really don't end, you know :-)

But, you're closer to the mark than I'm happy with, so I'm going to try and push for a conclusion Thursday... that gives a couple of days clear to pull my hair (what little there is) out if it isn't where I want it to go!

Kitty, me ol' friend! Loved the way you said 'first' novel! But I do think I've got the bug now... so I'd better work out how to put paid to the seating problem, hadn't I? Wouldn't do to not be able to even walk to the forest and take my pics, now, would it!

Don't forget an abundance of the above comments are mine... maybe I should have done a seperate comment in answer to each comment, and gone for a world record :-D

See you've changed from a kitty into a mule - is this you digging in your heels and becoming more stubborn? I'm trying to imagine a surfing donkey, and I'm getting a picture of front feet on one board, and back on another...going in different directions... could be tricky... but interesting!!! :-D

Am I going to need to change all my kitty food into mule-food?

Congrats on the milestone and remember to give that keester a rest every now and then. Cheers!

Katie - aren't you a sweetheart, stopping by so often! It warms the cockles of me heart, so it does! Thank you!

Ha! Love it about Randolf and your boyfriend! - I hope you bait him about it all the time...bet you do!! :-D

Yep, on the last stretch now...

Hit the 50000 this morning - and what a moment that was! (Actually, if I'm totally honest, it wasn't until I'd almost finished the three and a bit pages I realised I'd zoomed past the finishing line without even waving! But, I've been waving ever since. And whooping uncontrollably. And grinning so my face is aching almost as much as my bum!! :-D )

Sanni! Good to see you - hope you feel a whole lot better now! I didn't manage to get round to everyone when I was visiting yesterday - just hopped from blog to blog (fun, isn't it!), but I had you in mind to visit... simply fell asleep at 9pm, so found it physically impossible :-(

You were right, Dave - I reached the wordcount target way before the deadline. Thing is, though, I'm still a way off finishing the story. There was never a doubt that I could spew out 50000 (Ok, there was, but I knew I could blag it if I had to! :-) ), but there's still a big doubt whether I can round the story off to my satisfaction. Can't just write 'The End' with all the characters up in the air, can I? (tempting though it is now I've reached the wordcount goal...) I added the extra 10000, because I reckon that's roughly how many it's going to take to sew it all up (I hope so, anyhow - any more, and my butt's going to be glued to this chair!! :-S )

I hear you about the rest - I'm out tomorrow celebrating my sister's birthday, so hopefully that counts. There's only another week (did I say 'only'?) and then it's all over, one way or the other. So, I'm going to aim high, graft hard and get the job done!

Thanks for your kind words and support!

Hiya Annelisa!

I'm on spring break from college, and I've been visiting everyone's blogs. Sorry it took me so long to get over here - had no idea you were working on a novel. From the word count you've been tracking, it looks like you have been going pretty steady. Hoping you are going to finish my the end of March. Wishing you the best. I tried for a novel some months ago, but I didn't have enough dedication to finish it. I think it is great you have kept at it for almost an entire month.

Hope you will share some excerpts with us in the future :)

Best to you and all the word power in the world!

M. Shahin - where've you been! I've tried leaving messages on your blog, but it stopped accepting some time ago - I've been wondering how you are! I didn't realise you were at college - that explains a lot... but I have to say, it's so good to hear from you again!

The novel? Pah! It's nothing! Why, just a little something I knocked up in my lunch break....

Ha, ha, ha! :-D

Whoo-hoo!!!!!>

So, so proud of you, Annelisa!

To think of where you were one short month ago with the NaNoWriMo thing-- wondering if it was even possible, fearing failure, nervous about starting but raring to go -- and here you are, crossing the 50,000-word mark without even stopping to look for the checkered flag!

A big, big congratulations to you! Whether or not you come up with the socko ending you'd like, and whether or not you ever even look at what you've called the "world's most unreadable novel" again, you've already scored a great personal victory... and that's something that can never be taken from you!

Can't wait for a shot at reading what you've written, my friend. But only when you feel the time is right, of course... here's to you, and here's to the next challenge: editing!

OH MY GOSH! What an accomplishment annelisa! Hats off to you! Congratulations!

YOU HIT 50 000 WORDS! And challenging yourself to go beyond that and wrap up the story.

Now's my turn to ask "How did you do it?" =O

So so proud of you! Now we can finally welcome you to the legions of NaNoWriMo winners! =D

Of course, there's the very heavy editing to do but let's not talk about that now, shall we? ;) Finishing your novel is now your utmost priority. Now go and finish it! You have 6 days left. ;) At least you can relax a little as you reached your goal.

Too bad I won't be around on the last day of March to give you a pat on the back as I have to go off somewhere. So here's an advanced big hug!

HUG! =D

Now that's a mighty accomplishment you have made. ;)

It seems a million years ago, Farris when we started this adventure... and so much has happened in our characters' lives you feel like you've lived it with them! Phew!

Editing? Editing? What editing? Ha ha ha! You think such work of brilliance should be altered in the tiniest bit??? :-D

Ok, Ok, I admit a whole re-write probably wouldn't do any harm... it'd be great if true genius had popped out on the page and it was just perfect right off, wouldn't it!

But, editing's the thing that happens after the end, so best get there first!

Well done on your own passing the 40000 mark - final lap now!!

FK - You ask how I did it??? When you, a teenager in the throes of study manage to do it last November!! That was something I was so blown away by... part of my inspiration to do this now... if you could do it, surely I could, sort of thing :-)

Thanks for the hug... I will have to pop over to yours to find out where you're off to - will stop by later if I can! Hope it's somewhere good, and you enjoy it!

(((Hugs back)))

Katie - thanks for the congrats, and also for making me smile imagining you going out with Randolph...Guess you have a swinging time together! (groan!) :-)

Akelamalu - you're an absolute star, sweetheart! You've been by to cheer me on just about every day, and don't think I don't appreciate it!!! Thank you. Thank you loads - for being there!! You've been wonderful!

I didn't want to skip straight to write a comment though, as you're using this almost like a blog while you're doin your novel thang.

Speaking of which - WOW. That's a lot of words. It's something I can't imagine having the inspiration or willpower to do. So I'm impressed... Is the end in sight? I can't tell from comments whether you now have a definite target that you've extended, or whether you're just going on now til it ends naturally?

Hi folks - have woken in the middle of the night, and can't get back to sleep, so I'm sitting here with a hot choccie, hoping that my brain will switch off again.

Unfortunately, I'm not doing anything so wonderful as writing the ending for my novel in my head. That particular project is having difficulty finding space in the day to be completed - typical, isn't it, that the last week of the NaNoWriMo is the one where I haven't managed to sit down longer than an hour or two all week! Oh well... Still got 3 days (including tomorrow, Thursday) I'll have to do some massive writing on Friday and Saturday, in between visiting my mum and Julia...

Anyway, figured - if I'm up and sitting here, might as well look at the blog, eh? (subconscious pull?)

Akelamalu - Thank you, thank you, for all your encouraging words and hugs - I'd like to come right over and give you a big hug back, for your friendship and the cheers and high kicks that are spurring me on!

Topchamp - Useful little things, these shortcuts, aren't they! :-)

It hadn't occurred to me I'm still blogging, but on the quiet! :-D You're right though - I am... sneaky, huh?

I've never been short of words (well, not often, anyhow :-) ) - it's moulding them into a semblence of something meaningful I have problems with sometimes. Is the end in sight? Hmmmm, it was, but through the exhaustion of the last few days, it's eluding me at the moment. Sometimes I see it, other times I just don't! I might just write the ending, and come back and fill in the last few chapters! I'll see how it goes over the next few days.

Thanks Sanni! (I'll be more impressed if I can finish this darn thing! :-) )

Well, Katie - did you think of your own position here? You are going out with a monkey!!! :-D

Now, Brian - you are a cheeky monkey!! :-D Editing and re-writing?????? You have to be kidding! I'm still working towards the oh-so-brilliant (not!) ending... we have yet to see whether it's worth editing and rewriting...I haven't read it yet, so I don't know :-D

Ah, Kitty - I'm glad you came off the surfboard to take some time in the comfort zone of food and warmth ... must admit, that fire looks nice, but it's the cake that gets me every time I pass it! :-)

Yes, it's been, and still is, one heck of a journey. I've gone through such a range of feelings about it. At the moment I hate it, because I want to be able to finish, but as I suspected, my weakness lies not with the beginning, or the flow of the middle, but with letting go. I don't want to finish it, because then it will be over (aha!! I knew there was a reason for being up at this time of night - it was to reach this conclusion!!! That was an idea that never occurred to me before!!! Thanks Kitty!!! :-) )

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, sweetheart - it's good to know you're still here. I'm going to save visiting for a couple of days, and concentrate on putting an ending to the beginning. After all, even the best of journies come to an end sometimes, else when do we get to look back over them with a stupid grin on our face and say, "I was there!"

Ooo, and thanks for wanting to use my photo - I'll stop by and look!!

Katie and Akelamalu - thanks for stopping by again, even though I haven't managed to show my face the last day or so! (((hugs)))

Rose!! Your name has become part of your name! Not using your pen name alone now - cool! I think I'd like to call you by your real name, if that's alright, Rose? I like the name, and I also like that you are using it...

It's lovely you stopped by, Rose. I'm wondering if I will reach the 200th comment by Saturday - it's certainly getting there, isn't it!! :-D I think, whoever takes that long to reach the end of the comments will deserve the signed copy (or perhaps that's the cruelty I should reserve for those who don't visit :-D )

Anyway, good to see you!

Hey honey three days is a long time - you can do it. Don't push too hard though March is a bit like Easter in my book - a moveable feast so you can have an extra couple of days if you want!

Stunning photos again lady. Do you use a tinted lens, or are your sunsets just better than the ones we get here? take care now....

Guess you're right, Akelamalu... I want to finish by the end of the month, because I suspect that after that I'll find it really difficult to stay focussed. But it's not the end of the world if I finish Sunday, or even Monday, is it?! But... I've still got to try and aim to finish... for my own piece of mind, and cos I want to say I've written a novel in a month :-D

I might nosh that moveable feast when I'm finished though!!

Queenie - never used a tinted lens in my life! The closest I've got is to use the sun visor of the car, simply because I was looking through it as I drove along! I think it's just how it comes out on the camera. I've found that changing the angle of the picture gives totally different results - when I've finished my novel (ha ha!) experience, I'll put two pictures of the local church I took one day, at the same time - one angled more at the sky, and one more at the church... there is a fine line between it beeing a blank sky, and getting all the colours in these pics - but anyone with a digital camera can get them!!! :-)

Just a quick one, as I can't stop now. Thanks for your comments Sanni, Madd & Akelamalu. Had a bit of a day yesterday. Writing was fine in morning, but in afternoon I had to visit my mum, who'd had a fit (related to her vascular dementia) and couldn't get back to it. So, instead of the two final chapters I'd been planning today, I've got three (help) - catch you later, with a novel under my arm!! :-D

Yahay, I've finished, and by the last stroke of midnight (just) too!! First proper post in a month tomorrow evening! Yahay, yaho! yahaaa!! Yipeeeee!!!!

Akelamalu - I have my novel under my arm... yeeesssss!!! Thank you so much, sweetie, for being there for me just about every day of this last month!! You are an absolute angel, and you'll never know how much that meant to me!!

Mum's alright. Last time she cut her head and under her eye open, and had to have lots of stitches, but thank goodness she had the fit in bed this time, so no injuries.

Ha ha! Things don't improve in the comment world, TC - looks like we're back to fun and games as usual! :-)

Guess it's just as well blogger only picked up 3, though if it had picked up all 43, you could have become the 200the commenter on this post, and gotten a free copy of my most amazing novel! :-D (bet you're glad it didn't!! lol!)

Thank you, Katie - I'm having an excellent weekend, now I've got an ending down! Did you see my total for today? over seven and a half thousand words. That's about 15 pages of A4 with a font size of 12 pnts (I know, you know!. I think it's fair to say the words flew! :-)

Hi Queenie - aha, little do you know how far I still had to go at that point! Still another 6000 words, I reckon.

You won't have to worry about scrolling after tomorrow - I'm going out tomorrow, but am hoping to get a celebratory post up tomorrow night.... I could do without the scrolling too (besides which, it sure is getting boring looking at the same old post at the top every day! :-)

So, see you soon...
